In efforts to become
A BETTER TEACHER
Pursuing Dreams
I have always dreamed of pursuing a master's degree as I deemed it a way to improve my pedagogy. I became a teacher at age 40 after working two decades in retail pharmacy administration. Last year as I started my fifth year of teaching (and well into mid-life), I started to explore a Master's Degree further.
American College of Education (ACE) has helped turn this dream of earning a Master's Degree into a reality by offering an affordable program. Taking on this task gave me the opportunity to conduct serious research and measure that against my current teaching practices. Moreover, while documenting the process, I learned a lot about various methodologies and instructional methods.
The blog posts offer up reflections of the content that I studied at ACE. Additionally, they touch on the current challenges I'm currently facing teaching special education, and the instructional interventions I'm using to achieve solutions.
With raising two children with my husband and working full-time, traditional in-class studies were not an option for me at this point in my life. Though I'm excited to be nearing the end of this journey, I must express my gratitude to ACE for the opportunity to pursue graduate studies online, and look forward to the next challenge.
